Theme 2: Community Facilities for All Ages

Renfrew benefits from the warmth of strong family and friendship ties and the desire of local people to connect with each other.  Whilst there is a strong desire to ‘reclaim Renfrew’, rediscover local pride and strengthen community spirit, there is a lack of opportunities to do so.

Building community cohesion is a central part of people’s vision of Renfrew and first class social and community facilities are a vehicle for achieving this.

Key suggestions:

  • Better and more accessible facilities and activities for children and young people – including green and recreational space
  • Develop a centralised community ‘hub’ to act as a focal point for community activity
  • Make better use of and increase the number of cultural venues and activities available
  • Support community groups to improve local facilities for recreation and leisure throughout Renfrew.

Actions for the Development Trust:

  • Develop a centralised community ‘hub’ to act as a focal point for community activity
  • A bespoke children’s and youth centre
  • Better play park and restored cycle track in Robertson Park
